Position Summary

The Manager of Security leads the daily execution and oversight of Aero's TSA-approved security program, ensuring strict adherence across all on-demand and public charter flight operations. Managing a fleet exceeding seven jets with a maximum takeoff weight over 12,500 lbs, Aero operates under the TSA Twelve-Five Standard Security Program (TFSSP) and DOT/14 CFR Part 380 regulations for public charter services. The manager develops, implements, and refines security procedures including passenger and property screening, access controls, incident response, and personnel vetting, while acting as the key liaison to the TSA and other regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and update the TSA-approved TFSSP to reflect current security directives, amendments, and regulatory changes relevant to on-demand and public charter operations.
• Ensure compliance with 49 CFR Part 1544, TSA guidelines for screening processes, and international security standards such as EASA/EU, UK CAA/DfT, and ICAO Annex 17.
• Serve as the primary TSA contact for coordinating inspections, audits, and handling corrective measures.
• Supervise screening activities for passengers and accessible property at terminals; ensure staff and vendor compliance with training and operational standards.
• Oversee controls for aircraft access, restricted zones, and sensitive information, managing credential issuance and audits per TSA ID Media Program requirements.
• Direct Ground Security Coordinators (GSC), ensuring their proper training, designation for flights/stations, and adherence to TFSSP responsibilities.
• Develop and sustain company-wide security training programs tailored for crewmembers, coordinators, and contractors, updating content to meet evolving threats and regulations.
• Manage personnel vetting through Security Threat Assessments and criminal records checks, and maintain auditable records of training and assessments.
• Lead threat and incident response protocols including bomb threats, unruly passengers, and elevated threat scenarios, overseeing investigations and reporting.
• Protect Sensitive Security Information (SSI) according to 49 CFR Part 1520, controlling its handling and destruction.
• Keep detailed security records and prepare reports and metrics on program performance and security screening.
• Conduct internal audits, inspections, and drills to identify security gaps and enforce corrective actions for program enhancement.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Flight Operations, Experience, Maintenance, and FBO/airport partners to integrate security into company procedures and guest services; liaise with law enforcement and airport officials.
• Contribute to emergency response and business continuity planning regarding security threats and events.
• Maintain the Company Security Manual, National Terrorism Advisory System Contingency Plan, and other relevant security manuals with version control in line with regulatory expectations.

Candidate Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Minimum of five years experience in aviation security, law enforcement, military security, or regulated transportation security roles.
• Eligibility to pass Security Threat Assessment and Criminal History Records Check.
• Proven experience working with TSA, FAA, or comparable regulatory bodies during certification audits and inspections.
• Strong communication skills capable of drafting security procedures and conducting staff training.
• Ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgment during high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.

Preferred Background

• Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, criminal justice, homeland security, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
• Prior roles as an Airport Operations Security Coordinator (AOSC) or alternate, or experience managing security programs under Part 135 or Part 121 operations.
• In-depth knowledge of TSA regulations including 49 CFR Parts 1520, 1540, and 1544, as well as TFSSP and 14 CFR Parts 135 and 380.
• Familiarity with public charter by-the-seat operations and private terminal screening procedures.
• Experience selecting and managing TSA-approved security screening equipment and vendors.
• Professional security or emergency management certifications (e.g., AAAE Certified Member).

Working Conditions

The role involves working remotely as well as at terminal, FBO, and airport ramp environments. It requires flexibility to work beyond normal business hours to support operations and respond to security incidents. Travel to different operating locations domestically and internationally is expected. Physical demands may include standing for extended periods and occasional lifting in operational settings.

• Though the position is remote, candidates must reside within an hour's drive of primary Aero sites (VNY, ASE, OPF, TEB/HPN) to allow travel to operating locations.
