Job description

About Aiven

We are an international team exceeding 400 members dedicated to advancing open-source technology and multi-cloud solutions. Our mission is to empower developers and creators to realize their ideas rapidly and effortlessly by delivering a cloud-based platform that makes open-source databases, search, streaming, and app infrastructure widely accessible.

Role Overview

We seek a Lifecycle Marketing Manager responsible for overseeing the entire user journey for Aiven's self-serve customers. The focus of this position is on activities after initial sign-up—transforming new registrants into activated users, converting those to paying customers, and then helping expand those accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end user lifecycle including sign-up, activation, conversion, retention, and account growth phases.
  • Design and implement nurturing campaigns tailored to user progression—such as onboarding sequences, re-engagement flows, and milestone-triggered messages.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to create and control in-console messaging and product nudges, ensuring timely and relevant prompts to users.
  • Develop user segmentation models leveraging product usage data, firmographics, and behavioral indicators.
  • Lead monetization initiatives by identifying high-potential users for upgrades, usage-based triggers, or tier incentives.
  • Partner with Product and Data teams to define metrics that reveal activation status, health, and risk of churn, establishing automated responses accordingly.
  • Own reporting on lifecycle metrics including activation rate, conversion rate, revenue expansion impact, and churn statistics.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated experience in lifecycle marketing, CRM, or retention marketing, preferably within SaaS or product-led growth companies.
  • Expertise in mapping user journeys and funnel analysis.
  • Strong data orientation; ability to create cohorts, interpret funnels, and translate behavioral data into testable hypotheses.
  • Proficient with marketing automation platforms such as Customer.io, Braze, Iterable, or equivalent.
  • Experience with in-product messaging tools like Intercom or Pendo is a considerable advantage.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, as this position interfaces closely between Marketing, Product, and Data departments.
