About the Licensing Team
The Licensing team ensures Affirm’s compliance and scalability in regulated markets worldwide. They oversee the licensing portfolio, regulatory relationships, and strategies across the U.S. and internationally, collaborating closely with Legal, Compliance, Product, and business leaders to facilitate growth and expansion.
Role Responsibilities
- Assist with launches of new products and services involving state licensing and reporting such as money transmission, servicing/collections, lending, and international expansion.
- Work cross-functionally with legal, public affairs, compliance, finance, and tax teams to fulfill licensing and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Maintain a central repository documenting licensing and reporting duties, workflows, and regulatory guidance.
- Partner with the Licensing team to prepare and submit annual state license reports, money services business (MSB) call reports, and other regulatory filings.
- Monitor timely regulatory submissions, identify licensing issues, and manage ongoing obligations within the licensing system.
- Lead the preparation and submission of license renewal applications and various regulatory forms across jurisdictions.
- Collaborate on NMLS licensing, reporting, and other regulatory filings.
- Analyze and implement process improvements by leveraging artificial intelligence for increased licensing program efficiency.
- Assist with researching and integrating licensing requirements into the management tool.
- Coordinate with senior leadership to ensure continuous compliance with state licensing necessities.
- Contribute to licensing projects and initiatives as part of the team.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum five years experience in licensing, compliance, or regulatory roles, preferably within consumer financial services.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills capable of handling multiple priorities and concurrent projects.
- Strong project management, analytical, and critical thinking capabilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication proficiencies.
- Exemplify humility, integrity, and collaboration, fitting well within a compact, supportive team environment.
- Curious, eager to learn, and motivated to take ownership of assigned initiatives.
- Highly focused and able to work independently with minimal supervision, thriving in fast-paced, dynamic settings.
- Comfortable adapting within a rapidly growing, high-change environment marked by shifting priorities and ambiguity.
Compensation and Benefits
The pay grade for this role is Level L, with equity grade 5. Affirm provides a transparent and straightforward compensation structure based on multiple factors including location, experience, and relevant skills. Base salary ranges from $133,000 to $183,000 per year, with new hires typically starting near the lower end of this scale. The total compensation package may include monthly stipends for health, wellness, technology spending, and comprehensive benefits such as fully subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents. There are additional potential equity awards through Affirm Holdings, Inc.
Work Environment
Affirm embraces a remote-first policy allowing employees to work from almost anywhere within their country of employment.
