Position Overview
Reporting to the Civil Superintendent, the Level 1 Labourer is integral to the timely delivery of NAC construction projects. This role requires extensive hands-on physical labor for heavy construction activities such as site preparation, demolition, maintenance, and material handling.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain job sites and trailers, including offices, lunchrooms, and restrooms.
- Restock necessary supplies on-site.
- Manage traffic control duties as required.
- Adhere strictly to organizational policies and provincial/federal health and safety laws to ensure a safe work environment.
- Execute excavation work for trench creation using mechanical equipment or manual digging when necessary.
- Prepare construction sites for ongoing work activities.
- Provide general labor support where needed on-site.
- Conduct routine site inspections to identify and report safety hazards.
- Support formwork installation and removal.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in an organized and functional state.
- Assist trade professionals on-site to facilitate project progress from start to finish.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience in construction or cleaning work is beneficial.
- Physically capable of lifting weights up to 40 pounds.
- Basic carpentry skills considered an asset.
- Strong ability to comprehend and follow directions accurately.
- Capable of working independently with limited supervision.
- Attendance reliability and a positive work attitude are essential.
- Familiar with safe operation of power tools.
- Knowledgeable about workplace safety protocols and proper lifting/handling techniques.
- Competent in safely operating required equipment.
- Valid certifications in WHMIS and Working at Heights mandatory.
- Confined Space training is advantageous.
