Role Summary
Reporting to the Modern Trade Manager, the Key Account Manager will lead the management and expansion of Al Rabie's business within key Modern Trade accounts such as national and regional hypermarkets and supermarkets. This role encompasses full ownership of commercial relations, including business planning, negotiation, execution in stores, and profit and loss performance, significantly contributing to growth within the organized retail sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic annual plans with clear targets for revenue, volume, and market share across assigned accounts.
- Drive sustained growth of the Al Rabie product range through increased distribution, shelf presence, and category share within organized retail chains.
- Identify and capitalize on growth prospects including new product listings, additional displays, and expansion into new store openings.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to launch and promote new products and packaging formats.
- Manage the P&L for each account, including revenues, trade spend, promotional return on investment, and profitability.
- Negotiate key annual trading conditions, pricing structures, promotional schedules, and listing agreements while ensuring margin compliance.
- Oversee trade investment budgets to optimize promotional visibility and contribute effectively to the bottom line.
- Coordinate with supply chain and demand planning teams to deliver accurate volume and revenue forecasts, maintaining product availability and quality.
- Maintain and build strong day-to-day and strategic relationships with buyers, category managers, and commercial teams.
- Lead joint business planning and quarterly reviews to foster long-term partnerships.
- Swiftly address commercial, supply, and operational challenges to uphold high service standards and customer satisfaction.
- Serve as the main liaison between assigned accounts and internal functions including supply chain, finance, and marketing.
- Ensure excellent in-store execution through compliance with planograms, product availability, secondary displays, and pricing accuracy.
- Conduct regular store visits to assess execution quality, monitor competitors, and discover opportunities to enhance presence.
- Collaborate with field sales and merchandising teams to seamlessly implement account agreements at the store level.
- Actively minimize out-of-stock situations, returns, and near-expiry inventories.
- Plan and implement tailored promotional campaigns and seasonal activations tailored to shopper demographics.
- Partner with trade marketing to secure prominent in-store placements and branded displays.
- Leverage category and shopper insights to develop persuasive, data-inspired selling propositions.
- Continuously evaluate promotion effectiveness and optimize future marketing efforts for maximum ROI.
- Create and preserve account scorecards reflecting sales, distribution, market share, and promotional performance.
- Utilize retailer and market data for actionable insights and prompt performance adjustments.
- Monitor competitive activities, identifying gaps in pricing, availability, and promotions.
- Prepare monthly business performance reports for senior commercial leadership.
Candidate Profile
- At least 5 years of experience in key account management or modern trade sales within FMCG sectors.
- Over 8 years total experience in FMCG commercial or sales roles, preferably within the food and beverage industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing major retail chains in Saudi Arabia.
- Ownership of profit and loss statements or trade budgeting.
- Track record managing regional or national retail accounts such as Panda, Danube, BinDawood, Carrefour, or Othaim.
- Proficiency in negotiating trade terms and joint business planning.
- Successful delivery of sales growth, distribution improvements, and promotional execution.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration experience across supply chain, marketing, and finance.
- Excellent negotiation abilities with buyers and category management teams.
- Data-driven decision-making and analytical approach.
- Capability to manage multiple key accounts concurrently.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English is mandatory.
