Junior QA Engineer

About the Role

We are collaborating with a SaaS company seeking a Junior QA Engineer to join their engineering team in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. This role suits recent graduates or candidates with 1-2 years experience in QA who want to advance their skills with guidance from seasoned engineers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing of new features and product upgrades before launch.
• Develop and maintain automated tests using tools such as Cypress or Playwright.
• Collaborate closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to ensure quality at every release stage.
• Report, analyze, and reproduce bugs effectively.
• Help enhance testing procedures and quality standards within the engineering team.
• Continuously expand knowledge of modern QA practices, automation techniques, and software development principles.

Requirements

• Currently holding or about to graduate with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or have 1-2 years of commercial QA experience.
• A strong enthusiasm for software quality and technology.
• Experience with manual testing, automation, or programming through education, personal projects, or work.
• Curiosity about understanding software functionality.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• A positive attitude open to learning and asking questions.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with Cypress or Playwright testing tools.
• Knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience with REST APIs and API testing.
• Understanding of Git version control.
• Exposure to Agile software development environments.

Working Arrangements

New team members will spend considerable time onsite initially for hands-on guidance and pairing. After settling in, the role adapts to a flexible hybrid schedule with one day per week in the office and remote work the rest of the week if preferred.
