Job Overview
This opportunity is offered through a partner organization seeking an IT Product Manager located in the United States. The chosen candidate will spearhead the strategic planning, development, and enhancement of technology products that facilitate higher education operations and enrich digital learning platforms. The role integrates product ownership, business analytics, and leadership across multiple departments to implement solutions benefitting students, educators, and internal teams. Operating within an Agile, remote setting, you'll collaborate extensively with business executives, tech personnel, and external vendors to define product strategies, prioritize feature updates, and ensure successful deployments. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal expert and advocate for assigned IT products throughout their lifecycles.
- Create, prioritize, and oversee product roadmaps and backlogs by converting business objectives into user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance standards.
- Engage with business leaders, technical teams, vendors, and project managers to deliver technology solutions aligned with strategic goals.
- Direct product discovery, plan projects, define scope, develop business cases, and manage implementation while assessing risks, opportunities, and success indicators.
- Manage product launches, system upgrades, user acceptance testing, release coordination, and ongoing support to guarantee quality delivery.
- Track vendor product releases and technology trends, suggest product enhancements, and keep stakeholders informed of new functionalities.
- Prepare product documentation, performance analytics, KPIs, executive reports, and assist in budget planning and ongoing product improvements.
- Address complex product challenges, support Agile teams, and promote collaboration across cross-functional units throughout development cycles.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of five years' experience in business analysis, product management, or a related technology discipline.
- Hands-on experience with D2L platforms, student portals, and higher education tech systems, plus a deep understanding of user processes for students and faculty.
- Proficiency in Agile frameworks, business case creation, project and financial analysis, and software delivery lifecycle management.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, CRM systems, as well as system integration, APIs, and enterprise IT environments.
- Knowledge of Student Information Systems (SIS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, and higher education operations is advantageous.
- Exceptional analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with demonstrated leadership in cross-departmental projects.
- Experience drafting detailed documentation including product specs, user stories, and business requirements, coupled with effective multitasking skills.
- Proven leadership in project execution, KPI definition, supporting User Acceptance Testing, and working collaboratively with distributed teams via modern tools.
- Awareness of artificial intelligence technologies such as AI and large language models is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% as the role demands.
