Insider Threat Analyst

About the Role

Quantinuum is hiring an experienced Insider Threat Analyst to strengthen its security function. The role centers on reviewing alerts, investigating suspicious activity, building detection logic, and helping advance the company’s insider threat program. You’ll partner with teams such as Legal, HR, IT, and business stakeholders to lower internal risk while preserving employee trust.

This position is listed for Arlington, VA, Broomfield, CO, Brooklyn Park, MN, Albuquerque, New Mexico, or Remote, US. Quantinuum notes that employees are generally expected to work from their assigned location, although remote work may be possible with approval.

Core Responsibilities

• Review, prioritize, and investigate alerts from DTEX, Microsoft Purview, and similar monitoring tools.
• Build, refine, and improve detection scenarios across UEBA, DLP, SIEM, and endpoint-monitoring technologies.
• Use DTEX telemetry to spot risky user behavior and possible data theft or exfiltration.
• Apply Microsoft Purview for information protection, DLP, and insider risk controls.
• Use Microsoft Entra ID to analyze identity activity, run access reviews, and watch privileged accounts.
• Assess behavior patterns that may indicate fraud, sabotage, policy breaches, or data leakage.
• Carry out proactive hunting to uncover insider threats that have not yet triggered alerts.
• Combine technical signals with HR events, travel data, and organizational changes to build a fuller risk picture.
• Run insider threat investigations end to end, from initial review through remediation.
• Work with Legal, HR, and outside law enforcement when sensitive cases require escalation.
• Write investigation summaries and leadership briefings.
• Maintain playbooks and response workflows for consistent incident handling.
• Help shape the insider threat program roadmap and maturity efforts.
• Create and maintain metrics, KPIs, and dashboards for program performance.
• Deliver awareness training for employees, managers, and security teams.
• Track insider threat trends, tactics, techniques, and emerging tools, and suggest improvements to the program.

Required Background

• High school diploma or GED is the minimum educational requirement.
• At least 5 years of experience in insider threat analysis or a closely related cybersecurity area.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with DTEX or a comparable insider threat monitoring platform.
• Must satisfy contractual U.S. Person requirements: U.S. citizen, permanent resident/green card holder, or a person granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. government national security rules, applicants cannot be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven investigative experience involving theft of data, fraud, or policy violations.
• Practical experience with Microsoft Purview features such as Insider Risk Management, DLP, and Information Protection, plus Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience with UEBA platforms such as Securonix, Exabeam, or Microsoft Sentinel, as well as DLP tools.
• Strong working knowledge of SIEM platforms, log analysis, and query languages such as Splunk SPL, KQL, and SQL.
• Experience creating security procedures, playbooks, and technical documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
• Counterintelligence experience in areas such as technology protection, economic espionage, or protection of trade secrets and proprietary information.
• Background in identifying and reducing threats from foreign intelligence services, competitors, or other adversaries targeting intellectual property.
• Experience helping build and mature an insider threat program.
• Familiarity with behavioral psychology, social engineering, and human-centered security practices.
