Role Overview
We offer an exciting full-time, permanent position for a qualified Industrial Electrician within our high-performing engineering division. This practical role involves diagnosing and repairing electrical faults, performing planned preventative maintenance, and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing plant reliability while minimizing downtime across a variety of industrial equipment and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and fix electrical faults and respond promptly to breakdowns in plant equipment.
- Conduct planned and preventative maintenance tasks on electrical systems.
- Install, commission, test, maintain, and repair electrical machinery and control systems.
- Operate with PLC-controlled systems, automation, instrumentation, and process controls.
- Maintain conveyor belts, VSD-driven motors, refrigeration systems, and other plant equipment.
- Interpret engineering and electrical schematics and technical documentation accurately.
- Monitor plant reliability metrics and implement improvements to reduce downtime.
- Contribute actively to continuous improvement and enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate effectively with Engineering and Production teams.
- Adhere strictly to New Zealand electrical standards, site safety procedures, and safe working practices.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a relevant electrical trade qualification at NZQF Level 4 or equivalent and hold a current EWRB practising license.
- Have at least three years of post-qualification experience in industrial, manufacturing, processing, FMCG, or related maintenance environments.
- Exhibit proficient troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Be competent in reading and understanding engineering and electrical diagrams.
- Experience with PLC, SCADA, or similar control systems is advantageous.
- Knowledgeable about Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), instrumentation, and process control systems.
- Strong analytical abilities accompanied by excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate ownership, responsibility, commitment to health and safety, and drive continuous improvement.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within teams.
- Willingness to work weekend shifts on a rotating roster.
