Position Overview
We seek a Human Resources Generalist to support our Detroit Automotive Hub. This role is crucial in delivering an exceptional employee experience and partnering effectively with business leaders to achieve organizational goals. It offers an excellent chance for early-career HR professionals to grow towards a strategic HR role within a dynamic and innovation-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted HR advisor to employees and managers in the Detroit Automotive Hub, providing daily HR support and enhancing the overall employee experience.
- Offer guidance on HR policies and programs with emphasis on fairness and consistency, and coordinate communications between the hub and wider HR teams.
- Collaborate with managers on performance management, development plans, and ongoing feedback to foster talent growth and effectiveness.
- Support talent processes including performance evaluations and organizational planning.
- Assist in resolving employee relations issues with balanced judgment, promoting respectful, inclusive, and high-performing work culture.
- Advocate for open dialogue and proactively address workplace concerns.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies, support onboarding/offboarding, maintain employee data integrity, and fulfill compliance and reporting obligations.
- Work alongside Talent Acquisition to facilitate hiring, participate in interviews, and assist workforce planning and organizational transformation.
- Coordinate local leadership efforts, serve as a primary contact for hub initiatives, and lead community partnership programs with Detroit-area service organizations.
- Design and implement culture initiatives that build employee engagement, belonging, and connection specific to the Detroit hub, aligning enterprise-wide strategies with local relevance.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
- Between 4 to 5 years of practical HR experience in roles such as HR Coordinator or Generalist.
- Solid foundational knowledge of HR practices, employment legislation, and employee relations.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities to develop trust and credibility with diverse groups.
- Proven communication skills complemented by sound judgment and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and reliable in follow-through.
- Passion for building workplace culture, community engagement, and participating in hub leadership activities.
- Demonstrates adaptability, eagerness to learn, and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure or interest in automotive or technology industries.
- Experience with performance management and employee relations procedures.
- Familiarity with HR information systems and data analysis.
Compensation and Benefits
The pay range for this position located in Troy, Michigan is between $79,100 and $108,875. Compensation is competitive and customized to your experience, education, and skills, and includes bonus opportunities, comprehensive health and welfare plans, a 401(k) plan, as well as exclusive perks focusing on wellness and employee discounts on Bose products.
