Location Overview
Desroches Island offers a private oasis surrounded by a tranquil coral setting in the Indian Ocean. This unique resort is the sole habitation on the island, featuring rustic villas and suites that provide intimate retreats resembling a treasured castaway experience.
Role Summary
The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for maintaining guest rooms to exacting standards to ensure guest comfort. Duties also include assisting as a runner, handling public areas, and laundry tasks as required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Clean a designated number of guest rooms per shift, changing linens and towels, dusting, sanitizing all guest room areas including bedrooms, living and dining rooms, and bathrooms according to established procedures.
- Make beds, vacuum carpets, and clean marble and tile surfaces thoroughly.
- Clear room service trays, dishes, and carts, transporting them to service landings.
- Replenish used room amenities such as toiletries and stationery.
- Adhere to Four Seasons’ Work Rules and Standards of Conduct rigorously.
- Collaborate professionally and harmoniously with colleagues and supervisors.
Additional Duties
- Provide support in Lobby Attendant and House Attendant roles during busy periods or when colleagues are absent.
Requirements
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- No prior supervisory responsibilities.
- No travel required.
Work Schedule and Environment
- Work shifts are eight hours long, with schedules varying based on operational needs.
- Physical demands include pushing or pulling carts up to 30 pounds for distances up to 150 feet, bending up to 20% of the shift to perform cleaning tasks, and continuous standing throughout the shift.
- The role requires full mobility during the entire shift and involves no climbing or driving.
- Working environment is entirely indoors with critical requirements for hearing, vision, and speech to interact effectively with guests, and moderate literacy to read instructions and lists.
- Cleaning agents are used approximately 35% of the time with proper safety sheet documentation, and gloves are worn about 20% of the time when cleaning bathrooms and disposing of trash.
- Uses vacuum equipment weighing up to 25 pounds for 15% of the shift.
