Role Overview
The Head of Operations will be a senior executive responsible for steering operational excellence across Group Bayport's manufacturing and fulfillment centers in the United States. The primary base is Suwanee, Georgia, focusing mainly on the Atlanta facility, while also providing strategic leadership to other sites in Phoenix and Connecticut. This position encompasses oversight of Production, Planning, Supply Chain, Logistics, Quality, Compliance, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and HR functions (the latter through a dotted-line reporting setup). The role demands delivering results in operational efficiency, scalability, customer satisfaction, profitability, compliance, and organizational development. It requires a hands-on, engaged leader capable of strategic direction as well as involvement in daily execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive manufacturing and operational processes across all U.S.-based facilities.
- Drive achievement of daily goals including operational performance, productivity, quality assurance, customer service, and financial results.
- Ensure smooth collaboration among Production, Planning, Supply Chain, Logistics, Quality, Compliance, EHS, and HR.
- Implement structured operational reviews, performance tracking, and accountability standards across locations.
- Foster an organizational culture emphasizing ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Direct plant operations prioritizing safety, high quality, productivity, and timely deliveries.
- Enhance manufacturing workflows, labor efficiency, and equipment use.
- Implement capacity-building initiatives to support ongoing and future business expansion.
- Maintain adherence to customer commitments and elevate service levels.
- Represent U.S. operations’ liaison with Group Bayport’s India headquarters, coordinating on strategic and operational matters including growth planning, automation, and global standards adoption.
- Optimize production planning and scheduling to maximize output and flexibility to meet customer needs.
- Oversee procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and logistical operations, striving for efficiency and cost control.
- Promote a quality-driven culture ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Lead initiatives on quality assurance, audits, safety, environmental compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Service, and Commercial teams to resolve operational bottlenecks and enhance customer experience.
- Develop strong leadership teams, providing guidance and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and teamwork.
- Drive continual improvements through automation, lean manufacturing, and operational transformation to support future growth and new site integration.
- Set and monitor key performance indicators aligned with long-term company goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is mandatory.
- An MBA or equivalent advanced qualification in operations or manufacturing is highly desirable.
- A proven track record with 15-20 years of extensive manufacturing and operations experience.
- At least 8-10 years in senior leadership roles such as Plant Head, Operations Head, Manufacturing Director, or similar senior management positions.
- Demonstrated capability managing multi-functional and multi-site manufacturing operations effectively.
- Strong financial literacy and commercial insight, including managing operational budgets and profitability targets.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills are essential.
