Head of Infrastructure

About the Role

We are collaborating with a leading technology organization in the region to recruit a Head of Infrastructure based in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will steer the architecture, growth and management of a cutting-edge cloud-native infrastructure that supports extensive, mission-critical platforms.

This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for someone who has constructed infrastructure systems from the ground up, rather than operating isolated components within a broader engineering division. This role involves shaping infrastructure strategy, managing a top-tier engineering team, and ensuring that the infrastructure is secure, resilient, scalable, and conducive to fast-paced innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an infrastructure strategy encompassing cloud services, networking, computing, and platform operations.
• Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing infrastructure engineering team.
• Design environments that are highly available, secure and able to support critical business applications.
• Advance infrastructure automation through Infrastructure as Code and state-of-the-art DevOps methodologies.
• Integrate security at all infrastructure layers, collaborating with security teams to enforce strong governance and resilience.
• Manage observability, reliability, disaster recovery, and ensure operational excellence of the infrastructure landscape.
• Partner closely with software engineering and architecture departments to facilitate swift and secure software delivery.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Experience directing infrastructure or platform engineering teams within technology-focused organizations.
• Track record of designing, deploying, and managing a comprehensive cloud platform or infrastructure from conception through to scaled production.
• In-depth knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP, plus Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native architecture.
• Expertise in DevOps practices, including continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform), automation, and configuration management.
• Strong grasp of infrastructure security, identity management, networking, secrets handling, compliance, and cloud security best standards.
• Experience overseeing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform reliability, or operational excellence programs.
• Proven ability to scale and develop engineering teams while maintaining technical credibility.
• Superior stakeholder engagement and influence capabilities at both technical and executive levels.
