About WSET and Role Purpose
WSET is a premier global provider of qualifications in wines, spirits, beer, and sake, conducting over 140,000 exams annually across more than 70 countries through a network of Approved Programme Providers. Our worldwide presence includes teams in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, the USA, and the UK. The Head of Educator Training will play a vital role in enhancing education quality by inspiring and empowering WSET educators globally, fostering an empathetic and curious culture aligned with WSET’s values of innovation and learner-centered excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute an annual plan that meets demand and financial goals for educator training programmes.
- Build and strengthen global relationships with educators to support their professional growth, advocacy, and foster a trusted community enhancing student education.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to align activities with WSET’s strategic mission.
- Motivate and equip educators to deliver superior education experiences.
- Partner with the Product Development Team to contribute feedback and market insights for evolving educator training programmes.
- Ensure operational excellence by securing competent delivery resources and organizing targeted training as needed.
- Monitor programme performance and assessment standards alongside Product Development teams, ensuring consistency and validity.
- Coordinate with Customer Service to guarantee smooth administrative processes including enrolments, bookings, and record handling.
- Support strategic changes in commercial models in cooperation with relevant departments.
- Identify global trends and educator needs, advising Product Development on new programme opportunities and supporting content creation and pilot testing.
- Manage and support a global pool of trainers and assessors ensuring capacity meets worldwide delivery requirements.
- Deliver educator training and WSET qualifications both virtually and in-person, also assisting with related events.
- Lead and develop the Education Training team while adhering to WSET People Team policies.
- Maintain key collaborative relationships with Product Development, Operations, Customer Service, and WSET School teams.
Candidate Profile
- Proven leadership with the ability to inspire and unite teams under a shared vision.
- Strong strategic planning capabilities aligned with education and organizational goals.
- Expertise in educational program design incorporating best practices and creativity.
- Holds highest-level WSET qualifications in wine, spirits, or sake and certified WSET educator or equivalent.
- Experienced in teaching WSET courses up to advanced levels, preferably across multiple categories.
- Engaged in ongoing professional development with evidence of continuous learning.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Effective operational and budget management experience ensuring financial and delivery targets are met.
- Commercially astute with a focus on sustainability and growth of training programmes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching qualification at Level 5 or higher.
- Management qualification or equivalent.
- Completion of WSET’s Education Training Programme.
- Experience with course development for in-person, online, and blended learning modalities.
Additional Information
This full-time position is fully remote and may require some evening, weekend work, and international travel. Employment is contingent upon successful background screening by an independent third party.
