Head Coach - Épée Fencing

Position Overview

This leadership role as Head Coach for the Épée discipline entails comprehensive responsibility for planning, executing, and assessing all sports-related activities concerning Épée fencing. The role requires development and management of yearly training schedules, integrating macro and mesocycle training plans along with preparation for national and international competitions. The focus is both on elite athletes and the emerging Under 14 and Under 17 age groups, with the key goal of fostering long-term athlete development (LTAD) and facilitating their progression to the elite international stage.

Core Responsibilities

• Define and implement the yearly and multi-year development plans for Saudi Arabia's elite and up-and-coming Épée fencers aligned with targets for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Riyadh Asian Games 2034.
• Guide the technical and tactical training of national athletes across all levels (U14, U17, elite).
• Organize and supervise technical preparation and participation in international competitions and training camps.
• Create a consistent coaching philosophy and training methodology for the national Épée program.
• Keep abreast of global trends in Épée fencing and coordinate this knowledge with the high-performance director and coaching team.
• Lead and manage assistant coaches and specialist support staff involved with elite level athletes.
• Support national coach development initiatives within the fencing federation framework.
• Prepare fencers for premier international events such as World Cups, World Championships, Asian Championships, Asian Games, and Olympic qualifiers.
• Strategically schedule competitions for athletes at various levels and genders.
• Scout and nurture talent nationwide, including arranging developmental camps for young athletes.

Athlete Development and Support

• Supervise training and performance preparation of national team athletes.
• Manage individualized performance plans for both elite and emerging athletes.
• Make informed selections for team representation following federation policies and performance standards.
• Conduct performance monitoring via regular reviews and analysis.
• Ensure smooth advancement of athletes from junior to international elite status.
• Facilitate dedicated development programs for female fencers.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

• Engage actively in learning and development programs provided by the Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee (SOTC).
• Participate in strategic meetings with high-performance leadership.
• Adopt a continuous learning attitude to adapt coaching practices sensitively to cultural and athlete needs.
• Work cooperatively with multidisciplinary teams including strength & conditioning, sports medicine, nutrition, psychology, and wellbeing experts.
• Escalate any operational or safety concerns through proper leadership channels.
