Head Chef

About the Role

Windmill Healthcare is seeking a Head Chef for Ferbane Care Centre located in Ferbane, Co Offaly. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing / Person in Charge. The Head Chef will oversee and ensure the seamless operation of the kitchen while adhering to the dietary requirements of residents and maintaining high standards of food preparation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all kitchen operations to guarantee smooth running and efficiency.
• Prepare meals compliant with residents' dietary needs and quality standards.
• Assess food production methods to enhance residents' nutritional intake.
• Implement and comply with HACCP regulations and other relevant safety standards.
• Follow First Aid, Hygiene, Health & Safety policies, and COSHH regulations consistently.
• Manage budget through effective cost control and strategic menu planning.
• Maintain superior health and safety standards in the catering environment.
• Lead, develop, and mentor the kitchen team.
• Engage with residents to accommodate their meal preferences and dietary requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar culinary position within a food service setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility and openness to implementing innovative ideas.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficient knowledge of HACCP and experience implementing HACCP plans.
• Competency in food costing and staff training methodologies.
• Ability to produce nutritious and high-quality meals tailored to resident needs.
