Grocery Associate

Position Overview

Join Walmart Canada as a Grocery Associate for an enriching opportunity to develop essential skills in a busy retail setting. In this role, you will uphold Walmart’s customer service standards by maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-organized grocery area while supporting stocking and sales functions. As a team player, you will help ensure the grocery department is consistently customer-ready, contributing to a dependable and positive shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper zoning of the grocery department to ensure readiness for customers at all times.
• Regularly rotate stock and remove expired or damaged items to ensure product freshness and quality.
• Verify accurate pricing and signage, and adhere to established procedures related to ordering, markdowns, labeling, and inventory accuracy.
• Follow strict food safety, handling, sanitation, and cleaning protocols to foster a hygienic and safe workspace.
• Stock shelves and complete downstocking tasks to keep the department fully stocked; execute modular displays and shelf arrangements, including setting new shelf caps.
• Comply with Health and Safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a hazard-free environment.
• Demonstrate flexibility by being available for various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, supporting smooth store operations and excellent customer service.

Challenges of the Role

• Manage overnight and fast-paced shifts efficiently to maintain focus and energy.
• Handle large volumes of restocking and recovery work accurately and punctually.
• Perform physical tasks including standing for long durations, bending, lifting up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs, and repetitive stocking and organizing with attention to detail.

Compensation

The starting wage for this position is $17.75 per hour.
