General Maintenance Operative

Role overview

SUEZ is hiring a General Maintenance Operative for its Pool/Redruth, Cornwall location. This is a permanent, full-time position with a Monday to Friday schedule. The role is paid at £14.10 per hour, and the standard working week is 42.5 hours. Start time is to be confirmed. Full PPE will be supplied.

Key duties

The position focuses on general maintenance and practical site support. Work may include mobile plant-related repairs such as changing blades and wipers, along with a range of site facilities tasks. These can involve drilling, installing signage or netting, plumbing, brickwork, fitting doors and handles, maintaining locks, and working on barriers. The role also includes stores duties and stock audits.

Skills and experience

Applicants should bring solid hands-on maintenance ability, including general DIY experience across building work, plumbing, and woodwork. Confidence using hand tools and power tools such as drills, grinders, and jigsaws is important. Because tasks may be completed alone, a strong safety mindset is essential. A self-driven attitude is also required. Formal qualifications would be an advantage, particularly NVQ-level training in mechanical work, fitting, or joinery. Welding experience would be helpful, though it is not mandatory.
