General Facilities Maintenance Technician

Overview

Join a dynamic team as a General Facilities Maintenance Technician at Walmart's Greencastle, IN location. This role involves performing routine maintenance duties to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of Walmart stores and their equipment. Reporting to the local General Maintenance Manager, you will carry out inspections, cleaning, and repairs based on established schedules and guidelines within a fast-paced and supportive environment that values innovation and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and repairs on Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets utilizing a range of skills such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, and food service equipment.
• Use hand and power tools to complete assigned tasks effectively.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to support store operations.
• Operate the work order management system to receive and document reactive repair orders and activities.
• Perform inspections, testing, and diagnostics of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
• Complete all safety training required for operating tools and equipment.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently work on ladders and at heights.
• Capable of standing or sitting for extended periods and working in varying temperature conditions.
• Hold a valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record passing a Motor Vehicle Report check.
• Have vocational or technical certification plus one year of experience, or two years of total work experience in trades such as plumbing, electrical, or material handling equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year vocational or technical program in a related trade.
• Licensing in relevant trades according to city or state regulations.
• Intermediate proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
