Role Overview

As an FP&A Manager, you will be instrumental in enhancing financial visibility and guiding strategic decision-making within the organization. This role requires partnering closely with business leaders to forecast, plan, and allocate resources effectively in a dynamic and mission-aligned environment. You will translate complex financial data into compelling narratives and strategic recommendations to support sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted financial advisor to VP and C-suite executives within R&D and G&A, influencing investment and resource decisions.
• Lead monthly forecast reviews, delivering actionable insights and prioritization recommendations from performance data.
• Proactively identify financial implications of organizational changes and market trends.
• Manage end-to-end financial planning processes including forecasting, budgeting, multi-year planning, and variance analysis between budget and actuals.
• Ensure disciplined expense management aligning investments with strategic goals and delivering measurable ROI.
• Develop sophisticated financial models incorporating scenario, sensitivity, and probabilistic analyses to support crucial decisions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to harmonize metrics, definitions, and maintain consistent KPI frameworks such as LTV/CAC, Rule of 40, and unit economics.
• Create executive-level dashboards and simplify complex data for clear communication to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Critically evaluate business case assumptions to ensure realistic projections and sound financial reasoning.
• Build scalable FP&A processes using automation, AI, and standardized approaches to enhance accuracy, reduce manual tasks, and enable self-service analytics.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• At least 5 years' FP&A experience in high-growth SaaS or technology firms.
• Extensive partnership experience with VP and C-level executives on strategic planning and decision-making.
• Proficiency in advanced financial modeling and data analysis with Excel or Google Sheets.
• Familiarity with FP&A platforms such as Abacum, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, and business intelligence tools like Looker.
• Solid understanding of SaaS-specific financial metrics including LTV/CAC, Rule of 40, and unit economics.
• Experience managing transitions from single product to multi-product platform business models.
• Background in IPO readiness or pre-IPO financial process development and investor-grade rigor.
• Proven ability to drive growth-to-profitability initiatives, including margin expansion and path-to-profit modeling.
• Consultative mindset with structured problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills for executive audiences.
• Practical experience integrating AI and automation to enhance financial procedures and analytics.
• Record of building and scaling robust financial frameworks and processes.
• Self-driven with a bias toward action and competence thriving in ambiguous environments.

Work Arrangement and Location

BetterUp embraces a hybrid work policy requiring employees to work in their local office at least two days weekly or eight days monthly. Those distant from hubs will function fully remotely but need to travel for company events or team offsites. US hubs are located in Austin, TX; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; and Arlington, VA.

Compensation Range

Base salaries vary by location as follows:

• $144,000 to $180,000 for employees in New York City and San Francisco.
• $129,000 to $162,000 for employees in Austin, Washington D.C., or other locations.
