About the Role

The Wireless Power Technology team is responsible for innovating cutting-edge wireless charging solutions integrated into Apple's flagship products such as iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods. This dynamic and fast-paced team prioritizes engineering excellence, collaborative problem-solving, and delivering unparalleled quality experiences globally. As a Firmware Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of wireless power firmware, software, and algorithms within embedded systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the quality assurance process for wireless power firmware, embedded software, and associated algorithms.
• Identify, document, and resolve defects rigorously, maintaining clear and precise issue records.
• Create and conduct both manual and automated test cases intelligently tailored to product requirements.
• Develop comprehensive test guidelines derived from engineering specifications and technical datasheets.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to promote quality initiatives and effectively convey testing outcomes.
• Utilize diagnostic tools that include software and hardware to isolate complex technical problems.
• Review and analyze real-world field data to influence future design improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal tertiary education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Systems.
• Solid understanding of quality validation techniques and strategies.
• Strong proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
• Demonstrated expertise in bug identification and regression testing practices.
• Competency with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash, Swift, C++, or AppleScript.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering high-quality consumer electronics products.
• Proficiency with hardware debugging instruments like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Background in embedded software structures and languages including C, Objective C, and C++.
• Knowledge of USB power protocols including USB-C and USB-PD.
• Experience in developing and implementing automated testing frameworks and tools.
• Skills in creating device drivers and drivers for instrumentation and robotic control used in automated testing environments.
