Stem Health is transforming primary care by offering individuals a more personalized and thoughtful healthcare relationship. As a physician-led, membership-based clinic launching in September 2026 at First Canadian Place, Stem Health combines clinical excellence with hospitable service, focusing on time, trust, and outstanding patient experience.

Position Summary

The Financial Analyst at Stem Health plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial operations. Reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating closely with the operations team, this role covers comprehensive accounting responsibilities — from managing accounts payable and receivable to membership billing and payroll support. This early-stage position offers a broad scope to establish and maintain financial systems essential to supporting the clinic's quality care and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle accounts payable processes including invoice verification, coding, vendor payments, reconciliation, and maintaining audit-ready records.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and credit cards to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain the general ledger with timely and precise entries and assist in preparing monthly financial reports and cash flow summaries for leadership.
  • Support HST/GST filings and coordinate with external accountants during year-end.
  • Manage accounts receivable operations such as processing membership fees, private billing, invoicing, payment tracking, and reconciling billing data with financial records.
  • Ensure correct and comprehensive membership billing and onboarding from a financial perspective, monitoring revenue trends and collection rates to aid retention and pricing strategies.
  • Process payments for contractors and support payroll activities, ensuring compliance with CRA regulations and maintaining updated records.
  • Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly financial reports for the CEO, including variance analyses and narratives that translate complex metrics into actionable insights.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to assist with budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning as the organization grows.
  • Create and monitor KPIs related to revenue, cost per member, utilization, and expenses, updating leadership with clear findings.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor budget adherence monthly, offering strategic financial advice on new services, pricing, and staffing.
  • Work within accounting software (QuickBooks) and EHR/practice management platforms, improving workflows and developing financial reporting dashboards.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance regarding all financial data and privacy regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma/certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related disciplines.
  • At least two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably with financial analysis, budgeting, or FP&A exposure; experience in healthcare or membership-based businesses is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and strong knowledge of accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Skills in building financial models, variance analysis, and communicating financial concepts to non-experts.
  • Familiarity with payroll and contractor compensation processes with an understanding of CRA compliance.
  • Advanced abilities with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and data visualization.
  • High attention to detail, disciplined in accurate data entry and record maintenance.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic, early-stage work setting.
  • Trustworthy and discreet, able to handle sensitive financial information responsibly.
  • Enthusiasm for healthcare and a collaborative team approach to tasks.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is highly organized and takes pride in accurate financial documentation and consistent processes. Comfortable with both detailed ledger management and strategic reporting, this individual thrives in evolving environments and enjoys creating scalable systems. Strong communication skills and inquisitiveness combined with a serious regard for confidentiality are key traits.
