Role Overview

The Facilities Operator role within SRC’s Facilities and Security team involves supporting maintenance activities across the organization's offices, laboratories, and industrial areas. This position functions as the primary contact for addressing minor maintenance issues and facility service requests. It also requires participation in on-call and emergency duties outside typical working hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct general building maintenance and troubleshoot facility-related components such as doors, windows, and locks.
  • Install and securely mount items like shelves, picture frames, and fixtures.
  • Assemble office furniture, including desks and chairs.
  • Support seasonal tasks related to groundskeeping.
  • Ensure a safe, well-organized work environment with proper tool and material storage.
  • Assist with setting up and dismantling SRC spaces for meetings and events.
  • Identify and report major maintenance issues to senior staff and management.
  • Participate in SRC's emergency management initiatives and support Health and Safety activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience with basic maintenance tasks, repairs, and furniture assembly.
  • Building Operator certification is advantageous.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Physical capability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing tasks and priorities.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to independently resolve issues.
  • Comfortable working independently and showing initiative.
  • Mechanical aptitude and confident use of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.

Additional Information

Successful applicants must provide a satisfactory original Criminal Record Check conducted within 30 days prior to employment commencement.
