Role Summary
The Estimator will be responsible for producing precise quantity take-offs, assembling comprehensive cost estimates, reviewing architectural and structural plans, and assisting procurement and construction teams in cost management throughout the project. Proficiency with Buildxact or equivalent estimating tools is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quantity take-offs from architectural, structural, and civil drawings ensuring the entire scope is covered.
- Create competitive and complete cost estimates using Buildxact or similar software.
- Issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids for scope completeness and market competitiveness.
- Procure materials and services, handle Purchase Orders, and maintain detailed procurement documentation.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and design teams to ensure estimates align with construction methods and schedules.
- Support construction teams during project delivery by managing cost control, handling variations, and tracking actual costs against estimates.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably in residential custom home projects.
- Strong skills in interpreting architectural, structural, and civil drawings, including site work and earthworks like cut and fill.
- Experience with Buildxact is highly favorable; familiarity with other estimating software such as Cubit, CostX, or Excel-based tools is acceptable.
- Knowledgeable about site works including cut/fill calculations, retaining walls, and spoil management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with both site and office personnel.
