Role Overview

As an Early Career AI Engineer at Notion, you will play a pivotal role in developing AI-driven features that enhance the platform’s intelligence and usability. Working with cross-functional experts, you will have autonomy in shaping user experience, take ownership of impactful projects, and help define Notion's AI vision. You may join various AI teams focusing on product engineering, model and systems engineering, or evaluation methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with your team to prototype and deploy AI-powered product enhancements.
• Lead scoped production projects involving integration of new AI models or techniques, with attention to monitoring, safeguarding, and optimization.
• Participate in creating and extending evaluation frameworks, running experiments, and translating insights into product and system improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Under two years of professional engineering experience with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience or coursework in AI/ML, comfortable with rapid prototyping and full feature development across UI, API, and database layers.
• Holistic problem-solving mindset with consideration for user impact and business context.
• Pragmatic technology use, focusing on outcomes rather than trends, with familiarity in AI development tools and environments.
• Proactive communication skills and high ownership of projects, capable of driving tasks independently and managing blockers.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, Postgres, or Elasticsearch.
• Interest in the societal implications of technology and responsibility as a technologist.
• Appreciation for computing pioneers and their contributions.

Compensation and Benefits

Notion provides competitive salary, equity, and benefits. For San Francisco-based roles, the estimated base salary range is $130,000 to $150,000 annually. Actual compensation depends on candidate experience, location, and role scope.
