About the Role
Valard Construction's Major Projects division is seeking a dedicated Document Controller to join their expanding team. The position is based in Edmonton, AB, Calgary, AB, or Markham, ON. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the chosen candidate will handle the management of project document databases, encompassing tasks such as collection, digitization, classification, and the loading of essential project documentation and related information to ensure timely and accurate communication and distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with client contacts to clarify document control and document data management (DDM) requirements.
- Serve as liaison between internal teams and external customers professionally and promptly.
- Administer the client’s DDM system on behalf of Valard Construction.
- Ensure proper electronic formatting, metadata tagging, and filing of all documents related to the project.
- Oversee the efficient transmission and distribution of project documents.
- Regularly audit the project databases to verify accuracy.
- Detect and report deficiencies within the DDM system, documentation, and related procedures.
- Support the project team with DDM systems including access, training, and troubleshooting.
- Assist in locating project documents or related information as needed.
- Coordinate with internal and external helpdesks for resolving DDM system issues.
- Provide recommendations to improve processes and system capabilities.
- Generate project information such as summaries, status updates, reports, and instructions upon request.
- Carry out administrative tasks to support the project team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience managing project documentation within engineering or construction environments.
- Post-secondary education relevant to the field.
- Familiarity with various database systems including implementation, development, user training, and troubleshooting.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong expertise in document and data management systems.
- Experience specifically with engineering and construction document management.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with Aconex and SharePoint platforms.
Compensation and Benefits
The role offers a base annual salary ranging between $60,320 and $70,720, depending on experience and qualifications. Valard Construction provides a comprehensive and competitive employee benefits package including an RRSP matching program designed to support health and wellness management.
