Job description
Position Overview
The Detailer is tasked with efficiently processing vehicles in the Detail Shop, ensuring each vehicle meets high-quality standards to be sale-ready. This entry-level role involves learning and applying various cleaning and inspection techniques, while supporting an efficient workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to clean and detail vehicles to meet sale-ready criteria.
- Master and perform appropriate methods for cleaning both the exterior and interior of vehicles.
- Assess vehicles for removal of decals, stickers, license plates, or window writings.
- Maintain high standards in vehicle presentation and support smooth shop operations.
- Operate tools and equipment such as compressed air hoses, heat guns, razor blades, screwdrivers, and vacuums safely and correctly.
- Follow safety protocols and wear required safety gear during work activities.
- Keep the workspace clean, organized, and in line with cleanliness guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining production flow and collaborate with the team, especially during busy periods like sales and promotions.
- Safeguard confidentiality of customer and company information at all times.
- Undertake additional duties assigned by management to ensure the shop operates smoothly.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
- The role involves light to moderate physical activities including frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Occasional lifting of items up to 50 pounds is required.
- Work takes place indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather changes, noise, dust, fumes, and industrial chemicals.
- Visual abilities required include accurate color and depth perception and attention to detail during vehicle inspections.
- Work environment includes interaction with moving vehicles and usage of industrial tools adhering to safety standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Basic reading comprehension to understand work orders and effective English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong teamwork orientation and a commitment to a positive service culture.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and apply common sense regarding safety procedures when using shop tools and equipment.
- Capable of performing in a fast-paced, noisy workshop environment with exposure to outdoor elements and diverse weather conditions.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Committed to maintaining confidentiality of all employee and customer records.
- Willingness to progressively learn and implement advanced detailing techniques.
