The database administration team looks after the databases used across digital banking operations in multiple regions. The team supports large-scale applications in the banking and finance space and is committed to delivering database environments that are secure, stable, and reliable.

Role Overview

This role is centered on managing and supporting banking databases across the full lifecycle, from setup and maintenance to optimization and issue resolution. You will also partner with developers, improve database architecture, automate repetitive work, and help build stronger data persistence systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day banking database administration tasks such as capacity planning, installation, backups, recovery, monitoring, security, compliance, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Work with the development team on database design, build, tuning, and problem-solving.
• Assess current software architecture and contribute ideas that improve future database stability and overall performance.
• Design and implement initiatives that lower database operating costs and automate recurring tasks.
• Create documentation and training material to promote database best practices.
• Explore and evaluate new technologies and methods for building high-availability, high-performance data storage solutions.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, high availability, and performance tuning.
• At least 2 years of DBA experience in banking, financial services, or the internet services industry.
• Practical, full-time experience working with MySQL.
• Experience with MS SQL Server or Oracle will be considered an advantage.
• Comfort with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Golang.
• Solid experience in Linux administration and shell scripting.
• Strong analytical ability and troubleshooting skills, especially in high-pressure or critical situations.
• Careful, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and adjust to changing tasks.
• Quick to learn and open to working across different database technologies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently as well.

This position is based in Singapore and is a full-time onsite role.
