Data Protection Manager

Overview

The Data Protection Manager will design, apply, and oversee the organization’s comprehensive data protection framework to guarantee the confidentiality, accuracy, and accessibility of both corporate and customer data. This position manages all facets of data governance including classification, encryption, data loss prevention, privacy adherence, data backup, disaster recovery, and regulatory standards compliance, aiming to mitigate risks related to data.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and enforce enterprise-wide policies, standards, and procedures for data protection.
• Lead the organizational efforts for the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) initiative.
• Set and maintain protocols for data classification and management.
• Ensure appropriate safeguarding of sensitive information using encryption, masking, tokenization, and access controls.
• Manage strategies for backup, disaster recovery, and data retention.
• Oversee adherence to relevant data protection and privacy laws and regulations.
• Perform risk assessments for data protection and propose effective mitigation strategies.
• Work collaboratively with IT, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and business teams to protect corporate data assets.
• Assess and deploy advanced data protection and security solutions and tools.
• Generate comprehensive reports, dashboards, and key metrics for senior leadership review.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related disciplines is required.
• A Master's degree is preferred to enhance qualifications.
• Demonstrated 8 to 10+ years of relevant experience in information security or data protection, including at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
