Data Centre Operative

Overview

This role involves supporting daily data centre operations by managing equipment handling, conducting light maintenance activities, monitoring various site conditions, and overseeing inventory. The position demands commitment to upholding high standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced, mission-critical setting.

Primary Duties

• Perform routine site inspections to detect equipment alarms or abnormal situations and escalate issues when necessary.
• Visually inspect and monitor key parameters such as temperature and humidity; report any unusual noises, overheating, faults, or abnormal readings.
• Document tasks, parameters, incidents, and results accurately using designated systems, ensuring clear communication with Operations, Technical teams, and management.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization across designated areas including FOC, FOC Library, Stores, and Workshop by conducting regular checks and adhering to a 'clean-as-you-go' policy.
• Assist in planned and emergency outages, incident responses, and drills, following established procedures and escalation protocols.
• Supervise subcontractors and third-party engineers onsite, ensuring compliance with safety, access, and procedural standards during maintenance tasks.
• Manage receipt and verification of deliveries, ensure safe storage and handling of equipment, and coordinate secure disposal of obsolete materials in accordance with regulations.
• Adhere strictly to access control, manual handling, and safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and prompt reporting of hazards, unsafe conditions, or near misses.

Educational Background

Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related fields such as Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering & Electronics is required.
