Role Overview
The Data Reporting Analyst plays a vital role in supporting business operations by analyzing data, generating reports, and measuring performance across multiple domains such as pricing, underwriting, claims, and product management. Collaborating with actuaries, underwriters, claims experts, and business leaders, this position transforms raw data into actionable business insights to aid strategic decisions. The role is based in Cincinnati, Ohio, with a hybrid work arrangement (four days onsite, one day remote).
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze operational, financial, and insurance data to facilitate business decisions.
- Generate regular and on-demand reports delivering valuable business insights.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across reporting systems.
- Track business metrics to uncover trends, risks, and potential growth areas.
- Maintain reporting standards aligned with operational and financial goals.
- Support pricing and underwriting teams with data analysis and performance evaluation.
- Review various datasets to appraise business outcomes and product profitability.
- Identify emerging underwriting performance trends and contribute to risk assessments.
- Evaluate claims and product metrics, including loss ratios and reserves.
- Monitor insurance product performance and propose process improvements.
- Prepare financial reports, validate data, and assist with executive-level business reviews.
- Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively.
- Automate reporting processes and develop presentation materials for leadership.
- Document analytical methods, data assumptions, and maintain process records.
- Collaborate across functions to gather requirements and communicate insights.
- Engage in continuous learning of insurance concepts, tools, and methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in fields such as Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Economics, or Finance.
- 0-2 years of experience related to data or financial analysis, reporting or insurance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, and data reporting.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to spot data inconsistencies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to juggle priorities in a dynamic, team-oriented setting.
- Excellent organizational skills and dedication to data accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or project experience related to insurance, finance, actuarial science, or data analytics.
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, or analogous data analysis technologies.
- Understanding of financial reporting, underwriting, claims, and pricing in insurance.
- Experience creating dashboards and executive summaries.
- Exposure to data validation, automation, and process enhancement initiatives.
