Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Credit Analyst to evaluate and manage credit proposals for both new and existing corporate banking clients, especially focusing on Chinese corporates and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). The role requires translating financial information into internal credit risk assessments and ensuring compliance with relevant internal and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze credit proposals involving new and existing corporate clients, including reviewing annual and quarterly financial statements of Chinese corporates and SOEs.
  • Convert financial statement data into the Bank's proprietary credit assessment and risk rating systems.
  • Assign borrower and facility risk ratings following internal credit policies.
  • Prepare thorough loan applications for new funding requirements and the renewal of current credit facilities.
  • Conduct in-depth credit reviews and offer actionable recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Detect principal credit risks and suggest suitable mitigation strategies and deal structuring.
  • Guarantee adherence to internal credit guidelines, regulatory compliance, and China's foreign exchange rules governed by SAFE.
  • Carry out portfolio assessments and continuously monitor credit quality of existing client relationships.
  • Collaborate effectively with Relationship Managers, Risk Management, Compliance, and other involved parties to expedite credit approval processes.
  • Assist with improving procedures, system upgrades, and management reporting efforts.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in interpreting Chinese financial reports and credit documentation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial statement analysis and core corporate credit principles.
  • Understanding of China GAAP/CAS and distinctions from IFRS, particularly concerning asset valuation, impairment, and taxation.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with excellent report writing and credit evaluation abilities.
  • Capability to work autonomously and manage various priorities within a dynamic environment.
  • Highly motivated self-learner with an interest in developments affecting China's lending and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Experience in corporate banking, credit analysis, commercial lending or risk management is a plus.
