About the Role
The City of Vaughan invites a motivated professional to join its Communications, Marketing and Engagement Department in a temporary full-time position as Coordinator of Marketing, Creative and Production Services. Vaughan, known as one of Canada's fastest-growing cities with notable developments like the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, offers an inspiring environment for career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the creation of departmental print and digital materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, presentations, reports, signs, advertisements, ensuring all conform to corporate branding standards.
- Develop design elements for digital platforms including social media, newsletters, websites, apps, and Vaughan TV.
- Advise on communication strategies for departmental and special projects while upholding the City's brand identity.
- Manage relationships with printers and service providers, overseeing layout, production schedules, paper quality, color fidelity, and quality control.
- Maintain the City's Digital Media Asset Library and photo inventory.
- Provide on-site support for events to help execute marketing and creative service functions.
- Serve as a member of the Public Information Team during emergencies according to the Emergency Communications Plan.
- Collaborate extensively with internal departments and external vendors to ensure creative projects meet Vaughan's visual standards and participate in approvals processes as necessary.
- Participate in marketing, promotional, and communication committees and task forces as assigned.
- Perform other duties aligned with job responsibilities or organizational goals, adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Act, corporate safety policies, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act requirements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of a two-year Community College Diploma in Graphic Design or an equivalent qualification.
- At least one year of relevant experience creating computer graphics, print and digital promotional materials, producing camera-ready artwork, and coordinating with printers and design agencies.
- Political and cultural sensitivity.
- Strong creativity and problem-solving capabilities with sound knowledge of writing, grammar, and punctuation.
- Excellent organizational skills enabling independent management of design and media projects from inception to completion.
- Superior customer service aptitude and ability to collaborate effectively with various teams and external partners.
- Proficient use of software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with the City’s core competencies.
- Willingness to work outside standard business hours when necessary.
