Role Overview
The position of Cook is a full-time, on-site role located in Guwahati. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing daily meals for children, women, and staff according to established guidelines. Responsibilities include menu planning, ingredient preparation, cooking nutritious and hygienic meals aligned with cultural preferences, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, managing food storage, inventory oversight, and coordinating procurement with supervisors. The Cook will uphold food safety standards, assist with special dietary requirements, support meal service, and engage courteously with beneficiaries. Collaboration within the team and adherence to schedule are critical to advancing the society's mission.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in cooking balanced meals for groups with understanding of local cuisine traditions.
- Knowledge of foundational nutrition principles and maintaining food safety and hygiene in communal kitchens.
- Ability to organize kitchen operations efficiently, including inventory tracking and cleanliness maintenance.
- Capacity to follow detailed instructions, adhere to predefined menus, and adjust recipes for dietary restrictions.
- Strong communication and teamwork capabilities to coordinate with colleagues and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
- Preferably prior experience working in institutional, community, hostel, or similar cooking roles.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to accurately follow recipes, measure ingredients, and keep simple records.
- A dedicated commitment to supporting the welfare of children and women, reliability, and willingness to work full-time on-site in Guwahati.
