Key Responsibilities

You will manage a portfolio of established commercial clients, collaborating with seasoned bankers to deeply understand each business and its banking requirements. Your tasks will include analyzing financial results, preparing lending submissions, and engaging with a diverse array of industries and lending situations—from growth and expansion needs to routine working capital demands.

This role provides a direct connection to supporting business success and contributing to the economic vitality of the region.

Primary Duties

• Develop clear and well-structured credit submissions for both new and existing clients, using financial statements, forecasts, and business insights to inform lending decisions.
• Assist in portfolio management activities such as reviews, monitoring, and addressing varied banking needs of commercial customers.
• Support delivery of practical banking solutions spanning lending, transactional banking, and related products.
• Contribute to the effective management of credit and operational risks, ensuring customers' needs are met responsibly and sustainably.
• Engage closely with clients to build trust and confidence in commercial discussions while enhancing your comprehensive banking knowledge.

Candidate Profile

• Background likely in accounting, finance, or commercial analysis with strong skills in interpreting financial statements and understanding business operations.
• Analytical mindset with a penchant for deriving commercial insights and grasping factors that influence business performance.
• Interest in a role offering variety, broader exposure, and more direct client engagement compared to conventional accounting roles.
• No prior commercial banking experience is necessary; key qualities include strong analytical ability, curiosity, and eagerness to learn.
• Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities combined with a customer-focused approach.
• Aptitude for translating financial data into actionable recommendations.
• A relevant tertiary qualification is beneficial but not compulsory.

Additional Information

This is a permanent, full-time position located at the ASB office in Palmerston North.
