- Investigate and manage claims from initial notification through to settlement or final hearing, including pre-litigation activities.

- Select, instruct, and manage legal firms and other experts, actively controlling indemnity and costs.
- Negotiate effectively with clients, brokers, claimants, and their representatives, including attending mediations, JSMs, and court sessions.
- Proactively oversee the claims portfolio according to underwriting guidelines, KPIs, and SLAs.
- Identify fraudulent claims and recovery prospects from third parties, applying strategic claims handling to maximize benefits for customers and Hiscox.
- Detect claim trends and concerns, reporting regularly to stakeholders via meetings and internal trainings.
- Build and sustain relationships with internal teams such as underwriters, customer relations, wordings, and conduct departments, demonstrating commercial acumen.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including insureds, brokers, law firms, and experts, maintaining commercial awareness.
- Handle referrals from delegated authority partners related to coverage, strategy, and claim reallocation.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to insured parties.
- Contribute to ongoing claims operational improvements aligned with company strategy, embracing new technologies and digital tools as introduced.
- Participate in group and claims-wide projects and change programs, offering subject matter expertise as agreed.
- Commit to obtaining professional qualifications such as CII, CILex, or equivalents.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience managing Motor Claims with strong policy coverage knowledge, within insurance claims, third-party administration, or legal contexts; special investigations or fraud experience is advantageous.
- Handling of third party property damage claims under public liability is desirable but not mandatory.
- Experience managing claims end-to-end, including solicitor instruction and overseeing claim strategies.
- Sound familiarity with pre-action protocols and civil litigation procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret policy wording and evaluate coverage and liability.
- Background in insurance claims or legal environments, such as law firms or paralegal roles.
- Excellent organizational skills with capacity to manage multiple claims and prioritize under pressure.
- Experience liaising with diverse stakeholders including brokers, solicitors, and policyholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to reassure clients and build trust.
