Civil Engineer – Construction and Building Maintenance

About the Role

Orient Palace Contracting & Building Maintenance LLC is actively seeking a responsible and experienced Civil Engineer to join our Dubai team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 4 years of substantial UAE work experience in civil construction, maintenance, renovation, refurbishment, and structural repair projects. This role demands the ability to independently manage projects starting from site inspection through to final handover.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out thorough site inspections, measurements, and assessments of different building types including villas, hotels, offices, and commercial facilities.
• Analyze survey reports, architectural and structural documents, specifications, and tender papers.
• Identify defects, maintenance needs, and repair strategies for buildings.
• Estimate materials, prepare Bills of Quantities, calculate labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs, and develop project quotations and proposals.
• Participate in site visits and client meetings, offering technical assessments and cost-effective solutions.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor civil construction and maintenance projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and quality standards.
• Supervise site engineers, subcontractors, and labor while monitoring daily activities and productivity metrics.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate with diverse stakeholders including clients, consultants, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with all drawings, specifications, industry standards, and safety procedures.
• Oversee quality control via inspections and ensure strict adherence to UAE construction regulations, including Dubai Municipality and authority standards.
• Prepare comprehensive project documentation such as progress reports, valuations, variation orders, inspection reports, and handover documentation.

Mandatory Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• At least four years of relevant UAE experience in civil construction, maintenance, renovation, and refurbishment.
• Strong expertise in site inspection, measurement, estimation, BOQ preparation, project execution, and coordination.
• Excellent understanding of UAE construction practices, local authorities’ requirements, building regulations, and safety standards.
• Proficient in reading architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
• Knowledgeable about construction materials, repair techniques, labor productivity, and market pricing in the UAE.
• Competency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, and project management software.
• Skilled in preparing quotations, technical and commercial submissions, method statements, schedules, and progress reports.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholder interactions and work independently under pressure.
• Willingness to work at various UAE locations.
• Immediate availability or minimal notice period preferred.
• Must hold a valid UAE driving licence and be comfortable operating company vehicles for official site visits and meetings.
