Chief Technology Officer

Job Purpose

• Lead the development of new products in alignment with customer requests such as RFQs and RFPs, ensuring timely delivery according to customer timelines by understanding their needs and applying engineering expertise to existing technologies.
• Drive innovation by developing new technologies for products and processes to fulfill evolving client demands and surpass competitor offerings; this includes transferring technology from collaborators or creating in-house novel solutions and managing intellectual property such as patents and trade secrets.
• Manage design development centered on customer requirements and oversee the Design Centre to enhance skills, technology use, and innovation.
• Direct all Technical Centre divisions, including R&D, Design Centre, and Test Centre, serving all customers and market segments.
• Ensure functional outcomes are achieved, including on-schedule new product and technology development, technology roadmapping, benchmarking, and knowledge management.
• Enforce compliance with management policies and quality standards like TS, EMS, and OHSAS; contribute to meeting customer expectations on quality, cost, delivery, and development; formulate Technical Centre policies; perform long-range planning; and provide support for resolving existing or potential challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and validate long-term technology and product roadmaps to ensure sustainable business partnerships.
• Define strategic plans and goals for the Technical Centre consistent with organizational objectives; assess and approve the Technology and Product Roadmaps.
• Develop annual Technical Centre budgets and operational plans.
• Monitor progress against targets and budget expenditures regularly.
• Manage intellectual property through patents and pioneering technology development.
• Oversee skill enhancement for design, testing, and vehicle integration staff.
• Handle customer-related technical activities including benchmarking, RFQ responses, and related communications.
• Lead program management to guarantee timely completion of new product and technology development projects, quality audits, customer approvals, and project flow control.
• Manage thermal engineering functions such as system and heat exchanger design and selection across projects.
• Coordinate product and component design ensuring vehicle packaging and customer specification adherence as per the New Product Development gate control process.
• Ensure thorough knowledge management within the PLM system including drawing creation, maintenance, and policy compliance.
• Optimize design through value analysis, value engineering, and managing engineering change requests and notices.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives for existing products through design refinement, sourcing alternatives, localization, and VAVE methodologies.
• Identify and address the company's long-term technology needs via competitor analysis and customer input.
• Oversee new technology creation and intellectual property protection.
• Manage technology transfer, standards maintenance, upgrades, and releases.
• Plan and supervise testing facilities to ensure compliance with internal customer criteria.
• Focus on competency development and team skill enhancement within the Technical Centre.
• Promote Technical Centre policy implementation and continuous improvement in design, validation, and vehicle integration processes.
• Implement risk management strategies for the Technical Centre operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Possess a B.Tech degree, preferably an M.Tech, in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Thermal Sciences.
• Bring a minimum of 25 years of industrial experience, with at least 15 years spent in a comparable senior technical leadership role.
