About the Role
At Banana Island Resort Doha By Anantara, part of Minor Hotels with an extensive international portfolio across more than 50 countries, we are looking for a seasoned Chief Steward to lead and coordinate all stewarding activities within our hotel. This role entails ensuring that all kitchen and food service zones meet the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation while effectively managing the stewarding workforce, equipment, and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day stewarding team operations.
- Maintain spotless and sanitized kitchens, dishwashing zones, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Enforce hygiene practices in line with hotel standards and local health regulations.
- Manage dishwashing processes and proper usage of kitchen tools and appliances.
- Track and control inventory for cleaning agents, chemicals, and stewarding supplies.
- Handle waste disposal and recycling systems appropriately.
- Prepare stewarding staff schedules and delegate tasks efficiently.
- Educate team members on cleaning protocols, safety measures, and hygiene policies.
- Provide support during banquets and restaurant peak times to maintain smooth operations.
- Ensure daily maintenance and correct storage of kitchen equipment.
- Perform frequent inspections to uphold operational excellence.
- Collaborate with chefs and food and beverage teams to guarantee seamless service delivery.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Chief Steward or Steward Supervisor in hotel or hospitality sectors.
- In-depth understanding of sanitation, hygiene, and safety requirements.
- Strong leadership and personnel management abilities.
- Capacity to remain effective under high-pressure, fast-moving environments.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Familiarity with HACCP food safety standards preferred.
Educational Credentials
- Completion of secondary education or equivalent is required.
- Certification in hospitality is considered a plus.
- Preferred stewardship experience ranges from three to five years.
