Chief Accountant

About the Role

Samaya Investment Company in Riyadh is seeking a Chief Accountant to take charge of daily accounting operations. The role demands ensuring precise financial reporting, timely closure of accounting periods, and strict adherence to IFRS and ZATCA standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and complete the monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing processes, ensuring that the general ledger and trial balance are finalized by the 5th day of each month.
• Supervise preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, provisions, and transactions among group companies.
• Oversee reconciliations involving banks, suppliers, customers, and intercompany accounts.
• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements such as profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure proper filing of VAT returns, comply with Zakat regulations, and manage e-invoicing (Fatoora) requirements.
• Support the annual budgeting process and perform variance analysis on financials.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable cycles, conduct aging analysis, and monitor collections.
• Serve as the main liaison with external auditors and organize audit schedules.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and supervise periodic inventory counts.
• Lead and develop the accounting team by establishing clear key performance indicators.
• Drive the effective use of the Odoo ERP system, especially its financial and accounting modules.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• Professional accounting certification such as SOCPA, CPA, or CMA is highly preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience in accounting, ideally within trading, retail, or group company environments.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing in roles as Chief Accountant or Senior Accountant.
• Demonstrated expertise in Zakat taxation and ZATCA compliance specific to Saudi Arabia is mandatory.
• Advanced proficiency with Odoo ERP’s financial and accounting modules.
• Fluency in both Arabic and English languages, written and spoken.
