Job Overview
This position is based in Canberra, Australia, and involves supervising the production of POLITICO's signature "Playbooks." The selected editor will manage workflows for the Canberra Playbook products, ensuring timely delivery meets POLITICO's rigorous editorial standards. This role acts as the coordinator of a focused, fast-paced team, contributing to the publication's influence within Australian political circles, including Parliament House, diplomatic missions, and corporate headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the final editing for both the morning and evening editions of Canberra Playbook.
- Develop the editorial tone, organize content structure, and prioritize daily agenda setting for the Playbook.
- Lead and coordinate a compact team of reporters and writers to avoid coverage redundancies and blind spots.
- Collaborate closely with POLITICO's international editorial teams to integrate global news coverage and maintain consistency across Playbook editions.
Candidate Profile
- Ability to quickly and effectively refine written content.
- Strong news judgment with an understanding of how individual news items fit within a broader editorial product.
- Comfortable working in a startup-like environment with limited resources.
- Skill in motivating reporters to improve their output without impeding their pace.
- Deeply interested and knowledgeable about politics and policy matters.
- Experience with newsletters, live formats, or audio content considered advantageous.
