CAD/BIM Modeler - Electrical Systems

About the Role

AlphaX is actively looking for a seasoned BIM Modeler and Electrical Detailer to enhance our expanding team based in Center Line, MI. This position involves creating precise 3D BIM models and comprehensive construction drawings concentrated on commercial electrical endeavors. The role ensures streamlined coordination, prefabrication, and onsite installation processes through collaboration with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update detailed electrical BIM models for commercial construction projects.
• Generate shop drawings, installation plans, layout designs, and prefabrication documents derived from construction blueprints.
• Conduct clash detection via BIM software, coordinating with multiple trades to resolve design issues prior to installation.
• Examine electrical plans, specifications, and contract documents to confirm model accuracy and feasibility.
• Prepare conduit routing, sleeve diagrams, hanger specifications, equipment placements, and related installation support materials.
• Work collaboratively with project managers, field supervisors, engineers, architects, and Virtual Design and Construction teams during project phases.
• Engage in coordination meetings and update models based on design revisions, RFIs, and field adjustments.
• Maintain precise BIM models throughout construction and support as-built documentation at project completion.
• Ensure all models and drawings adhere to established BIM standards, project requirements, and quality criteria.
• Consistently meet deadlines while preserving a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a BIM Modeler, Electrical Detailer, VDC Designer, or a related position.
• Proven expertise in modeling electrical systems within commercial construction.
• Proficient in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks applications.
• Comprehensive understanding of commercial electrical infrastructure, including conduit routing, equipment layouts, and installation methodologies.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents accurately.
• Experience with clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Preferred education includes an associate degree, technical training, or equivalent experience in BIM, drafting, electrical design, or similar fields.
• Direct experience in commercial electrical construction is mandatory.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
