Job description

Position Overview

The Buyer at Grimco manages the procurement and timely delivery of materials to satisfy customer demand while maintaining balanced inventory levels across various regional warehouses. This role supports accurate inventory control, fosters strong vendor partnerships, and enhances operational efficiency within a fast-moving wholesale distribution setting.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee creation, review, and processing of purchase orders aligned with inventory requirements across multiple warehouses.
  • Build and nurture effective vendor relationships to guarantee on-time shipments, product availability, and quick resolution of issues.
  • Monitor inventory quantities and reorder points to uphold stock levels within authorized limits.
  • Assist branch operations by tracking inventory status and facilitating product allocations and inter-branch transfers as needed.
  • Generate and interpret purchasing, inventory, and vendor performance reports utilizing Excel and proprietary software systems.
  • Evaluate slow-moving and aged stock items, collaborating with vendors and teams to minimize surplus inventory.
  • Coordinate closely with Sales, Shipping, Inventory Control, and Warehouse departments to align purchasing processes and inventory updates.
  • Maintain precise purchasing records and data within the Infor Cloudsuite Distribution Enterprise system.
  • Analyze purchasing and inventory patterns to pinpoint opportunities for improved efficiency and stock management.
  • Provide procurement administrative support, ensuring all documentation and records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to purchasing workflows and inventory procedures.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or related administrative roles within a dynamic environment preferred.
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related disciplines is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with purchasing and ERP systems or inventory management software is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling effective collaboration across departments.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and adapt quickly within a fast-paced workplace.
  • Analytical thinker with solid problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Capable of working independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
