Job Summary

This role focuses on preparing, baking, stocking, and maintaining bakery items according to product handling guidance and bakery production charts. The position also includes proper freezer handling, display setup, and ongoing cleanliness and safety standards in the bakery department.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer member questions, suggest bakery items, take calls, and handle special orders.
• Proof and bake unfinished bakery products using ovens and other equipment according to product handling instructions.
• Use bakery production charts to guide baking, display quantities, and next-day preparation.
• Pack baked goods such as cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, cakes, and other items as needed.
• Unload frozen bakery items and place proper quantities on display according to production recommendations.
• Decorate case items and special orders.
• Rotate and store products using proper methods that protect food safety, freshness, and handling standards.
• Receive, inspect, and store bakery shipments correctly.
• Check products daily for freshness and remove out-of-date items following salvage and stale merchandise procedures.
• Create labels and price tags, perform price checks when needed, and ensure correct pricing.
• Clean and sanitize bakery equipment, display fixtures, food contact surfaces, ovens, utensils, refrigerated cases, racks, and tables.
• Use bakery equipment safely and in line with operating procedures.
• Follow all club policies and procedures.
• Support other departments when required and take on additional assigned tasks.
• Maintain regular and predictable full attendance, which is required for the role.

Qualifications

Prior experience in a bakery or in a customer-service-focused environment is preferred. Familiarity with bakery products is also preferred. Candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Work Environment

The job involves frequent movement on non-hard surfaces and occasional bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, handling, and scanning merchandise. Lifting up to 30 pounds is common, and heavier or awkward items may need to be moved with assistance. The work is indoors and may involve regular exposure to freezer, oven, and cooler temperatures, as well as cleaning chemicals.

Compensation Notice
