About the role
Hexoskin is hiring a Backend Software Developer to join its research and development group in Montreal. In this position, you will help build and support the server-side systems that power the Hexoskin platform, with a focus on Django-based REST APIs and microservices.
You will be part of the web development team and collaborate closely with the biomedical and application teams. The company is focused on delivering innovative products and values a results-driven mindset.
What you will do
- Build new capabilities for the web API and keep existing Hexoskin products running smoothly.
- Prepare technical design notes, along with detailed plans and effort estimates.
- Look into defects, inconsistencies, and other technical issues, then help resolve them.
- Test, improve, and maintain applications so they continue to meet client needs.
- Assist external developers who connect their systems to the API.
- Take part in code reviews and contribute to code quality.
- Work effectively with development tools, build systems, version control platforms, and bug tracking tools across software projects.
Required experience and technical strengths
- You should have at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong grasp of object-oriented programming concepts.
- Knowledge of design patterns and SOLID principles.
- Solid experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Hands-on exposure to Python and frameworks such as Django, Flask, and FastAPI is considered an asset.
- Exposure to TypeScript, JavaScript, and CSS is also an asset.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows is beneficial.
- Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of API security standards such as OAuth2 and OIDC.
- Experience using version control best practices with tools such as GitHub and Bitbucket.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and maintainable code.
- Strong understanding of software testing approaches, principles, and tools.
- Adaptability and the ability to adjust quickly to new situations.
