Role Purpose
This position is responsible for managing housekeeping, yard maintenance, and Management Information System (MIS) within the Coal Handling Plant (CHP), ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with safety protocols, and the preparation of accurate reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead housekeeping, yard maintenance, and MIS functions specifically related to coal handling operations.
- Monitor coal inventory data such as quantity received, reclaimed, and stacked coal, and calculate the Belt Utilization Factor to generate daily MIS reports for internal use.
- Collaborate with Business Development to manage coal blending for optimized utilization.
- Perform physical stock verification to maintain inventory accuracy and utilize the Pile Age Management Tool for effective pile handling.
- Supervise belt wear monitoring and coordinate with Control & Instrumentation for timely calibration.
- Provide budgetary inputs to the section head for resource planning.
- Oversee housekeeping activities including attendance management via Kronos system and certification of attendance bills.
- Manage cleaning operations such as water washing of conveyor galleries and bunkers to maintain cleanliness and functionality.
- Conduct corrosion surveys, monitor diesel usage, seating surveys of conveyor galleries and bunkers, and oversee bunker management.
- Manage maintenance of plant and CHP vehicles including heavy machinery like earth movers, cranes, dumpers, and JCBs, as well as inventory and spare parts management.
- Supervise maintenance and operation of the Auto Coal Sampler Unit (ACSU) ensuring quality coal sampling.
- Implement and adhere to guidelines including AWMS, IMS, ABEM, CHETNA, and DISHA within the department to promote business sustainability.
- Participate actively in cross-functional audit and JAGRITI teams supporting workplace safety and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with work order notifications, handle breakdown data, and maintain schedules involving Permit to Work, Job Safety Analysis, Risk Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
- Drive Zero Force Outage initiatives through strict preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Lead digitization and automation efforts aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and adopting innovative technologies and process improvements.
Stakeholders
Internal stakeholders include Operations & Maintenance, Port teams, and Business Development. External interactions involve suppliers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Educational qualification: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related fields (BE/B.Tech).
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in coal handling operations, with at least 5 years in supervisory or management positions.
- Prior experience in the power generation or energy sector with expertise in coal handling and operational management is preferred.
