Applied Biologist - Remote Contract Role

Position Overview

This is a short-term contractual opportunity (3 months) for an Applied Biologist to contribute remotely to advancing large language models (LLMs) by designing and solving complex biological problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and solve challenging biology-related problems to examine the capabilities and limitations of LLMs.
• Produce detailed, stepwise solutions characterized by clear and thorough logical reasoning.
• Work closely with LLM researchers to ensure problem sets align with evaluation goals, particularly in biology topics where AI typically faces difficulties.
• Participate in developing new evaluation benchmarks grounded in biology curricula ranging from undergraduate to doctoral levels.
• Analyze advanced biological problems using systematic and logical methodologies.
• Communicate biology concepts effectively using straightforward language, supplemented by visuals and simulations as needed.
• Offer constructive critiques alongside comprehensive annotations to support AI evaluation processes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Masters or PhD degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines; candidates currently pursuing PhD or postdoctoral research are also eligible.
• Strong analytical and research capabilities.
• Experience providing detailed feedback and annotations.
• Innovative and lateral thinker.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills suited for remote teamwork.
• Self-driven and able to maintain productivity independently.
• Must have access to a reliable desktop or laptop computer and internet connection.

Additional Information

• Compensation: $250 per completed task.
• Working hours: Minimum commitment of 4 hours daily, up to 40 hours weekly, requiring at least 4 hours overlapping with Pacific Standard Time (PST).
• Location: Fully remote within India.
