Role Overview
The position of Academic Radiation Physicist involves ensuring the quality and safety within radiation therapy practices, aiding clinical research efforts, and engaging in educational activities in an academic healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform calibration, commissioning, and upkeep of radiation oncology machinery.
- Offer clinical assistance, carry out quality assurance tasks, and ensure adherence to established safety regulations.
- Contribute to treatment planning, dosimetry evaluations, and quality control processes.
- Support the execution of clinical trials and help develop associated protocols.
- Teach and mentor residents, students, and physicians, including involvement in curriculum creation.
- Participate in recruiting faculty members and attend departmental meetings.
- Take part in advancing clinical research projects and handle additional assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a Ph.D. or M.S. degree in medical physics, physics, or a related area.
- Board certification or eligibility required, along with clinical experience in radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and treatment planning procedures.
- Experience in CAMPEP-accredited residency programs is preferred, combined with strong communication capabilities and the capacity for independent work.
