About The Role
The position of Yard Coordinator involves overseeing and managing the smooth flow and handling of equipment at our Calgary yard. This role is active and hands-on, requiring the candidate to receive and inspect incoming units carefully, coordinate their movement to support workshop operations, prepare vehicles for technician transfer, and transport equipment between vendors. Additionally, the coordinator is responsible for assisting with yard upkeep, equipment loading and unloading, seasonal maintenance duties, and storing rental equipment securely. The ideal candidate is thorough, takes initiative, prioritizes safety, and helps maintain an organized and efficient workspace for technicians and overall yard operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary contact for all units arriving into the yard.
- Carry out detailed inspections of inbound units as per check-in standards.
- Perform comprehensive walk-arounds of the units following check-in protocols.
- Relocate and park units in the yard or move them into the shop to support operational needs.
- Ensure that trucks are correctly prepared and ready for transfer to technicians.
- Transport units to and from vendor locations as necessary.
- Support cleaning and general maintenance of equipment and yard to uphold a secure and orderly environment.
- Manage prompt check-in and check-out of customer and rental equipment.
- Assist technicians with assigned tasks, including startup procedures for equipment and verifying system functionality before use.
- Supervise regular maintenance checks and servicing of yard equipment.
- Handle seasonal yard operations such as plowing, salting, and sanding to maintain safety and accessibility during adverse weather.
- Oversee the safe and efficient loading and unloading of equipment.
- Coordinate storage of rental equipment during inactive periods, ensuring ease of access and safety.
- Perform additional reasonable duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Schedule
- Permanent position based in Calgary, Alberta.
- Hourly employee status with overtime paid according to applicable laws.
- Standard Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional extended hours required based on operational demands.
- Work environment is a mix of warehouse and outdoor yard settings, with exposure to noise, dust, ongoing shop activities, and varying weather conditions throughout the year.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of two years’ experience as a Yard Coordinator or in a similar role.
- Proficient in operating company vehicles, heavy equipment, and trucks safely within the yard context.
- Mechanical aptitude or previous experience working with heavy equipment is advantageous.
- Competency using computers, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Mandatory Credentials
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Possession of a Class 3 license with Air Brake endorsement is considered beneficial.
- Forklift operator license is an advantage.
