Ventures Associate

Role Overview

Saluda Grade is looking for a driven Ventures Associate to join our team in New York City. This role involves close collaboration with investment, marketing, and finance teams to assist with private equity investments focused on alternative asset originators, fintech platforms, and service businesses. The position offers significant hands-on exposure throughout the entire investment process, including sourcing, due diligence, execution, portfolio oversight, and fundraising activities, with direct interaction with senior leadership.

Core Responsibilities

• Identify and assess new investment prospects within the alternative lending and fintech sectors via proactive outreach, market research, and development of distinctive investment approaches.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to analyze potential investments, assess risk and return, and support decision-making processes; evaluate unit economics, growth potential, and robustness of business models.
• Assist in all transaction phases, including coordinating diligence efforts, conducting market studies, preparing materials for investment committee review, and contributing to deal structuring and negotiations alongside internal and external partners.
• Oversee portfolio company performance and collaborate with management to promote strategic growth, optimize capital structures, and improve operations.
• Support fundraising initiatives by preparing marketing content and investor updates, participating in investor meetings, and nurturing relationships.
• Contribute to fund operations by managing financial reporting tasks, including quarterly valuations, portfolio analytics, and preparation of reports for investors.
• Establish and maintain productive relationships with founders, executives, intermediaries, and investors to enhance deal sourcing and strengthen the firm's ecosystem connections.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related area.
• Between 2 and 5 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years served as an Analyst or Associate in investment banking.
• Expertise in financial modeling and analysis, including valuation methods such as discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable companies, and precedent transactions.
• Proven ability to distill complex information into clear and concise insights, both verbally and written.
• Exceptional attention to detail coupled with excellent organizational skills.
• Capability to juggle multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills to work effectively across varied teams.
• Self-motivated and able to operate with considerable independence and responsibility.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; additional technical or data analytics skills are advantageous.

Compensation and Location

The role offers a base salary ranging from 120000 to 160000 USD annually, with potential for a performance-based bonus. The position is stationed at Saluda Grade’s Midtown New York office.
